Better than Gold
During the renovation of its premises at the Bâtiment d’Art Contemporain (2025-2028), the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève is continuing its mission of introducing contemporary art to the wider public. The program Better than Gold offers a free immersion in contemporary art, in a unique setting, in collaboration with the Fondation Convergences.
Hosted at the Maison de l’Enfance et de l’Adolescence (MEA) of HUG – 26 boulevard de la Cluse, 1205 Geneva – this new program combines creativity and transmission through three main axes:
→ École de l’Image en Mouvement: a course combining theory (from the history of video art to ex-perimental cinema) and practice (writing, shooting, editing).
→ Technical practices: workshops led by mediators and local, regional and international artists to experiment with various artistic forms.
→ The Centre’s archives: 50 years of exhibition history activated within the MEA.
The MEA, a place dedicated to youth health and child psychiatry, becomes a space for exchange and collaboration, where contemporary art dialogues with educational and societal issues. The program adapts to a variety of audiences: patients, care teams, families, as well as schools, associations, community centers and other socio-cultural partners.
Better than Gold is more than just an initiation: it transforms art into a tool for transmission, expression and resilience, while encouraging collaboration between the MEA and Geneva’s socio-cultural network. This project creates a space where well-being, learning and social ties converge, affirming art as a lever for openness to others.
