For the 4th act of the inter-exhibition performance series Avalanche, the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève is happy to present Refzus Ofifus, a new performance by Reto Pulfer, proposed on the occasion of the launch of his latest monograph, published following the exhibition Dehydrierte Landschaft (Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, 2015).

Edited by the artist in collaboration with Nicola Dietrich and published by Sternberg Press, Zustandskatalog: Catalog of States and Conditions (2017) is inspired by in the style of a catalogue raisonné of Reto Pulfer’s works of the last fifteen years. The book proposes a new methodological typology of the works, texts by Anselm Franke and Benoît Maire as well as a rich iconography.

As in Pulfer’s work, an installation willcan be followed by a performance, which willould then be described in one of the artist’s texts and that will lead, for example, to a drawing., t The performance Refzus Ofifus will echo both Pulfer’sthe 2015 exhibition at the Centre and previous work. The catalog is at the heart of the performance. By reading the texts that compose it, Pulfer will use it as an extension of his work. The different media are linked in a non-hierarchical structure like a “metonymy” where each part refers to another.

Reto Pulfer (1981, Bern) grew up in Basel Land and now lives in Berlin. Between 2015 and 2016, the artist has participatesented in a series of solo exhibitions at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève; Musée régional d’art contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon, Sérignan, France; Spike Island, Bristol, UK ; Centre International d’art et du Paysage, Île de Vassivière, France and Forúm Eugénio de Almeida, Evora, Portugal. Recent solo exhibitions include: Hollybush Gardens, London; Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, Nuremberg; Swiss Institute, New York and Istituto Svizzero di Roma, Milan.
