Studio Visit
Omar Ba
Visit of the studio of the contemporary Senegalese artist Omar Ba in Carouge.
Born in Senegal in 1977, Omar Ba lives and works between Dakar and Geneva. His paintings – made using a variety of techniques and materials – represent political and social motives with multiple interpretations. His plastic vocabulary reactivates historical and timeless questions while elaborating an artistic approach of absolute contemporaneity. Omar Ba’s iconography mobilizes personal metaphors, ancestral references and hybrid figures. His work refuses a didactic narrative and seeks, through its enigmatic character and poetic intensity, to express his unconscious and his symbolic understanding of reality.
