Since the new millennium, Italian animation has witnessed a prolific period harbouring a number of good surprises. This is evidenced by the fact that despite the endless economic difficulties which Italian «auteur» animation has always faced, the Ottomani and VivaComix associations succeeded in publishing 5 DVD compilations in less than 10 years, with each DVD containing 15 short films among the best of Italian production, and in particular self-production.
