The program Better than Gold, un condensé d’art contemporain, offers a free immersion in contemporary art for children, teenagers and the general public, in a unique setting outside the walls of the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève and in collaboration with the Fondation Convergences. This innovative program, housed at the Maison de l’Enfance et de l’Adolescence (MEA) of HUG, combines creativity and transmission.

This workshop will take place during the program’s inaugural weekend, March 14 and 15, 2025, at the Maison de l’Enfance et de l’Adolescence (MEA). The event will feature a series of meetings, screenings and artistic workshops, including a crochet workshop titled “Sense of Truths”, hosted by artist Sabrina Röthlisberger Belkacem. This workshop is for teenagers and adults.

Sabrina launched this project during her convalescence, seeking to support herself without financial aid. For her, crochet has become a space for resilience, creativity and meditation.
In this workshop, Sabrina will share the basics of crochet and its therapeutic potential. Together, we’ll explore how this craft can be a tool for concentration, soothing and self-expression, while creating unique pieces. No previous experience is necessary, just the desire to learn and create with your hands.

Through performance, sculpture and writing, Sabrina Röthlisberger Belkacem interrogates transformation, healing and the invisibilized narratives of art history. Her work explores the tension between the sacred and the profane, the healthy and the sick body, science and magic. Inspired by her personal experiences and Crip theories, she questions the norms of health and artistic creation, reinventing resilience as a space for metamorphosis.

The workshop will be held in French.
