Julieta Hanono

A cosmology based on Violeta Parra

The Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève presents A cosmology inspired by Violeta Parra by Julieta Hanono in the Project Space from June 8th, to October 13th, 2024.

Julieta Hanono, visual artist, born in Buenos Aires, lives and works between Paris and Rosario. Her pieces function as transdisciplinary supports that unfold, decompose, and translate into texts, drawings, embroideries, films, neon, and posters. Her work not only has an aesthetic function, it touches something in us that goes beyond the pure pleasure of contemplation, it represents and contains a world, or, in her terms, a cosmology. Her work, linked to her political experience in Argentina in the late 1870s, her disappearance, her imprisonment, and her exile in France, is part of a work in progress that she calls affective translation.
