Steven Claydon
Video Works
In anticipation of Steven Claydon’s major retrospective, which will be held at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève in September 2015, the Cinema Dynamo is happy to present a selection of video works by the London-based artist.
Video has long constituted a central aspect of Steven Claydon’s practice, alongside sculpture, painting and performance. His art is underscored by a sustained focus on concepts of the artefact, the object and the collective memory.
Reflecting his wider themes and methodologies, his videos combine historic and contemporary elements, interlaying found footage and synthesised sequences to produce intricate visual and sonic tapestries. The eight screened short films present a panorama of Steven Claydon’s video works of the last ten years:
From Earth (2005)
Cluck, Cluck (2006)
The Ancient Set (2008)
The Fictional Pixel (2008)
The Earth at Work (2012)
A Broken Consort (2012)
Grid & Spike (2013)
Mimicry Systems (2014)
Duration: 70 minutes.
