Sonia Kacem

Sonia Kacem’s work undertakes to reveal the poetic aspect of everyday objects to which we pay no particular attention. For his installations, the artist often uses used materials from the domestic world, such as fabrics, sponges, paper, plastic or old blinds. These materials destined to end up piled up in dumps or dusty cellars find all their pictorial and plastic potential in his hands.

Similarly, this edition, produced by the printer Thomas Perrodin at the Usine, Geneva, is screen printed on recovered maculatures. Produced by Sonia Kacem, in collaboration with the artist Alexia Turlin, this motif, assembled from a collage of sofas cut out from decoration catalogues, is printed on white paper already stained with black ink; each copy is unique.
