Theatrical Workshop
In the context of the current show Re/member Your House – the AfroGreeks by Døcumatism the Centre is very please to host an early evening Theatrical Workshop Session facilitated by Afro-Greek actress, poet and artist of Congolese origin Eleni Habia Nzanga.
The aim is to invite participants to encounter the diversity of African culture as explored through the lenses of the African Diaspora in Greece. The workshop will be a guided exploration based on African poems and tales. The journey will begin after a short guided tour through the exhibition. What will follow is improvisation discovering our body movement as a warm-up. That includes various African dance movement patterns from different traditions guided by Afro-Greek performer and anthropologist Grace Nwoke. The participants will be encouraged to interact with each other by following Eleni Habia Nzanga’s instructions and then explore sounds using African songs as a form of expression just as several members of the African Diaspora in Greece express themselves through the elements that influence them in their daily lives – discrimination, racism, prejudice etc as seen during the guided tour. The session will be an experimentation to create, communicate and externalize thoughts through body movement and sound without the use of words.
The workshop is 1:30 hour and is free upon reservation in the limits of the space’s capacity.
