Ben Rivers & Ben Russell – New Worlds

Ben Rivers & Ben Russell
New Worlds

First exhibition of the Centre’s new cinema, NEW WORLDS is also the first common project in an institution of British artist Ben Rivers (1972) and American artist Ben Russell (1976). It allows to discover short films by the two filmmakers, who both challenge the borders between art and cinema and have been – joyfully and with much fulfilment – collaborating on several projects since a few years. Revealing and confronting two perspectives, NEW WORLDS includes works that explore the documentary format in close relation to ethnography, using forms that are more pictorial than narrative. Shot mainly in 16mm, the presented films draw trajectories and practices, and allow to anticipate the strength and grace that their complicity can generate.
