The Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève is proud to present a solo exhibition by Miroslav Marsalek (b. 1958, Prague) – also known as Mirek or Dugogh. Working as a technician since 2012 at the Centre, his work was revealed to the Director while Mirek painted on the Plaine de Plainpalais in Geneva. Through his technical skills worthy of the masters of the Renaissance and the dark and mysterious force of his subjects, the work of this extraordinary artist deserves to be seen, which is why the Centre decided to dedicate an exhibition to him at the Project Space.

Self-taught, Mirek conveys his daily observations and experiments through his drawings. In his notebooks, sketches, portraits and calligraphic writings on the most diverse subjects are intertwined: from art history to recipes, from autobiographical notes to quotes from poets and philosophers.

Of Czech origin, Mirek was trained in graphic design and calligraphy at the SOSV Prague. He came to Switzerland in 1988, where he worked as a graphic designer until 2011, before joining the team of the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève as a technician.
