Workshop with Louise Leï Wang

Initiation to metal casting

Within the framework of the exhibition at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève of the finalists of the Bourses de la Ville de Genève

Drawing on her original approach to jewelry making, between everyday accessory, decorative object and artistic work, Louise Leï Wang will offer an introduction to the techniques of metal casting and the creation of one’ s own pendant.

For the artist, jewelry is a special object because it does not fit into a fixed space but onto the human body which is always in motion. It is through this fascinating interaction between the body and the object that it comes to life. The relationship that is established with a piece of jewelry or an accessory of daily life is at the heart of this exploration. Through this workshop, it will be possible to explore more complex and personalized desires ( relating to memory, atmosphere) to produce an object that acquires a little something more immaterial: a sensation, an emotion, a message.

The workshop will take place at the HEAD-Geneva School of Art and Design, in the jewelry workshop.

About the artist : Based in Geneva, Louise Leï Wang is a jewelry and accessories designer. A graduate of HEAD – Geneva, she is interested in the inherent qualities of a material – texture, density, consistency and malleability – and manipulates it to her advantage, or, on the contrary, transforms it to its extreme limit. Sensitive to ethical design, she integrates this notion into her creations.
